Rusty and Broken Bench Grinder - Restoration

In this video i'm restoring a rusty and broken bench grinder.
A few weeks ago i was to flea market and after few minutes in rain and bad weather i found this cool benck grinder, was all wet and dirty.
Right away i knew that i can make a nice restoration video for you.
This rusty bench grinder costed me 15 Euro($17), and the seller warned me that it does not work because it was in the rain.
This is the reason why i didn't test it before cleaning.
When i checked inside i discovered that the capacitor was exploded and both bearings were worn.
For the painting i choose to make it yellow with polished parts.
on some parts i decide to protect them with bluing metode.
This Restoration took me 5 days to complete.
I like so much this bench grinder and will be next to my other bench grinder for display on my shelf.
I hope you like my work and my video.

TYSY - could you post a link to your screw driver(s)/set? Thanks. Great work as always. I always wonder (because I don’t know any better), why invest the time and labor of the wire brush first THEN MC51 and finally sand blasting? Why not go directly to sandblasting and save some time and labor? Thanks.

Nice Video! But place some new cardboard labels on the grinding wheels, please! They are not just for labeling. They prevent the wheels from cracking by evening out the surface.

Hi im new to channel and love it. You are correct to state that the grinding wheels should be replaced. Also NEVER fit grinding wheels without the paper friction pads fitted between washer and wheel. Keep up the great videos!

Don't use expensive car polish on acrylic/perspex. Ordinary toothpaste will polish it just as well. It's how they remove scratches from perspex watch crystals.

Always use cardboard pads between steeel washers and abrasive disk. They will dispence forces and prevent disk cracking and flewing into your head.

I think you assembled the shaft in the wrong way round. The left-hand thread should be at the left end of the machine when you are facing the front of it.

Unpopular opinion: I find sand blasting to be very unsatisfying. Just seems like it’s not so much restoring anymore as much as just taking apart, sand blast, then repainting. Not many parts that need to be hammered back to shape and hand sanding anymore (general examples) There is nothing wrong with what tysy is doing but there really isn’t anything different with each upload. They are all just the same video. And I mean I don’t blame him since the algorithm would destroy his channel if he doesn’t upload on a regular basis. Just seems like a bummer

That was a nice restoration. One thing though, I wasn't fooled by the fact that you put the rotor in backwards, left hand threads on the left and right hand threads on the right, you mixed it up didn't you? Still a good job though.
